Blocked Drains Central Coast & Hunter Valley

A blocked drain on a property with a septic system is often more than a plumbing nuisance. It can be the first warning sign that your septic tank or drain field needs attention. Ward Septics clears blocked drains across the Central Coast and Hunter Valley for a flat $300. If we can’t fix it, you don’t pay.

Paul Burgess has been a licensed plumber for over 40 years and has cleared thousands of blocked drains, many of them on properties with septic systems. Call 0438 315 514 for fast, honest help.

Signs you have a blocked drain

  • Sinks, showers or toilets draining slower than usual
  • Gurgling sounds from pipes after you flush or run a tap
  • Water backing up into a different fixture, a shower filling up when the toilet flushes, for example
  • Bad odours near drains, the septic tank or the drain field
  • Water pooling in the yard near your septic system

What causes a blocked drain?

Most blocked drains come down to a handful of causes. Some are common to any property. Others are specific to homes on a septic system.

General causes

  • A buildup of grease, hair, wet wipes or soap scum in the pipe
  • A broken, collapsed or offset pipe
  • An object flushed or washed down that shouldn’t have been

Causes specific to septic systems

  • Tree roots growing into the effluent line and restricting flow
  • A septic tank overdue for a pump out, pushing solids into the pipework instead of settling in the tank
  • A saturated or failing absorption trench sending wastewater back up through the system

If your blocked drain keeps coming back, the real problem is usually further down the line in the tank or trench, not the pipe itself. We check both.

Our $300 flat rate blocked drain service

We clear blocked drains with a high pressure water jet, the fastest and most reliable method for the vast majority of blockages, including root intrusion and sludge buildup.

The service is $300 flat. If we can’t clear your drain, you don’t pay anything, guaranteed.

We don’t employ subcontractors or apprentices. Paul does the job himself, which keeps pricing straightforward and the standard of work consistent.

Be wary of any quote under $100. In our experience, ultra-cheap quotes are usually a bait and switch: a low headline price, followed by a claim once someone is on site that your pipes need full replacement. A proper water jet setup, a vehicle to carry it, and a qualified technician all cost real money to run. A genuine $99 unblock doesn’t exist.

Areas we service

We clear blocked drains across the Central Coast, Lake Macquarie and into the Hunter Valley, including Somersby, Mooney Mooney, Mangrove Mountain, Spencer, Laguna, Wollombi, Wyong, Gosford, Tuggerah and Wisemans Ferry. See our full list of service areas.

Frequently asked questions

Does insurance cover blocked drains?

It depends on the cause and your policy. Home and contents insurance sometimes covers sudden, accidental blockages but usually excludes gradual issues like root intrusion or a tank that’s overdue for a pump out. Check your policy or ask your insurer directly if you’re unsure.

Our blocked drain service is a flat $300, with no hidden extras and no charge if we can’t fix it..

Simple blockages sometimes clear with a plunger, a drain snake or boiling water. If that doesn’t work, or the blockage keeps returning, you likely have a root intrusion or a septic system issue that needs a professional look.

On a property with a septic system, quite often, yes. A blocked drain that keeps recurring is one of the most common signs the tank needs pumping out or the absorption trench needs attention.
